May is Processing Month – Day 1

So May is Processing month, and I’m going to take the challenge to increase my skillz and make a new sketch every day.

Here is my first one: http://theliztaylor.com/processing-may/01_hexagon_applet/

I’ve been intrigued by hexagons lately.  The hexagon shape code I used from http://grantmuller.com/drawing-a-hexagon-in-processing-java/ I then added some x and y parameters to the function and turned it into a class.  The applet lets you click where you’d like the hexagon to stick.

Pretty simple, but it was fun review of classes.  I also like the way the transparency makes it start to look like little 3d cubes or something.  While I like the randomness of the size, I think I might create a version where you can control it.  I’d also like to make a version where you can control the number of points the polygon has.  We’ll see!
